This extensive experience combined with Dr. Bradford’s passion to serve and improve the quality of education for all, will bring a 20/20 Vision to life. Dr. Silke Bradford is the best and most experienced candidate to earn your vote and become the Trustee for the LAUSD District 7 Board of Education. Her ability to make difficult and consistent decisions, even in a political climate fraught with polarizing views and opinions, is a result of her keen and fair analysis of issues and the implications of the solutions to resolve them. Dr. Bradford values the voices and experiences of all stakeholders: students, families, educators, and community members. She is prepared to build on all of the great things happening in LAUSD, while also being a voice of reason to address what needs to be improved.

Policy Work

Dr. Silke Bradford has been a fearless advocate for education policy and practices that support a world class education and workplace for all. During her close to 20 years working in education as a teacher, principal, and district administrator, she tirelessly serves her communities through employing robust collaboration, innovation, and vision.

Dr. Bradford prides herself on solving problems, as opposed to sweeping them under the rug. Her integrity and determination in locating solutions and demanding legislative action, has led to improvements for all of California’s children.

In her personal time, Dr. Bradford works with and learns from students, families, communities, educators, and advocacy organizations to effectively lobby legislators that create education policy in the state of California. These conversations informed the creation and passage of new education legislation in California. An example of one of Dr. Bradford’s legislative ‘Passion Projects’ is California Assembly Bill (AB1871) that increased equity and accountability in California charter schools.

The Early Years

Dr. Silke Bradford was born to parents who instilled in her the value of education and hard work; whether that be at school or in the pool as an elite competitive swimmer. She is also the product of a bi-racial (black and white) and bi-cultural (German and American) household that naturally raised her to bridge diverse cultures and viewpoints throughout her entire life.

Silke’s older brother Oliver has Down's Syndrome, which influenced her first college-job decision to work at the Special Education Hearing Office in Sacramento. The valuable perspectives and work ethic that Silke Bradford developed very early in life, have greatly benefited the communities she serves. She looks forward to supporting the continuous improvement efforts of LAUSD through collaborative leadership, and modeling the same high expectations that she will support the District in achieving. The sky is the limit with a vote for Silke Bradford!
